I did not nominate myself to the chairmanship of the World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) and it has a cause. I counted the votes that I could collect in the elections and knew that I will collect less votes than the present chairman of the Congress. It would not be right to initiate my candidacy in such momentum as being democratic man, former chairman of World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) Javad Derakhti told the APA.
He said that if he had propagated he would have won.
“I could collect the votes of 13 members out of 17 members of Managing Board. But I wanted the organization to be renewed. We are not struggling for chairmanship here, we are trying to strengthen Azerbaijani statehood. It does not matter chairman or common member,” he said.
Derakhti underlining that new chairman Gulamrza Tabrizi will spend his life abroad as a migratory said that he believes they will function well.
“We will be together with him in the activity of WAC. WAC is our organization and we will never allow difference of opinion to exist here. I am also represented in Managing Board and I have been elected first deputy chairman of the Congress. We will do our best,” he said. /APA/
