Bust of Farman Salmanov unveiled in front of his house-museum in Surgut

Surgut. R. Metleboglu – APA. The bust of Farman Salmanov, the first geologist to explore oil wells in Siberia, was unveiled in front of his house-museum with the organization of Russian office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, APA’s correspondent in Moscow reports. Farman Salmanov’s bust was made by a sculptor from Petersburg Yan Neyman with financial support of Russian office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Mayor of Surgut Alexander Sidorov addressed the ceremony.
“The history of modern Surgut begins from this place. Once more we express our gratitude to Farman Salmanov. His memory will always live in our hearts,” he said.

The letter of Leyla Aliyeva, head of Russian office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was read at the ceremony. Head of Surgut executive power Dmitri Makushenko, Azerbaijani Consul General Gudsi Osmanov spoke about Farman Salmanov. Following this, flowers were put before the bust, the participants visited Farman Salmanov’s house-museum, wrote their thoughts in the memory book. Farman Salmanov’s family members also participated in the ceremony.
