Sabina Rakcheeva gives concert program in North California

Los Angeles. Zaur Hasanov â€“APA. Azerbaijani violinist Sabina Rakcheeva and her group gave a concert in Monterey, USA on the occasion of 91 years anniversary of Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic, APA US bureau reports. The concert was organized by the Azerbaijan Consulate General in Los Angeles and Azerbaijani student of Los-Angeles-based Navy Center Rashad Karimov, who is a researcher of the Strategic Research Center under the President of Azerbaijan, and Azertac Agency US bureau chief Shafag Akifgizi.

Shafag Akifgizi spoke about the essence of May 28 for Azerbaijani people and contribution of the first democratic republic in the Muslim world, established 91 years ago, to the global democracy. She said American Azerbaijanis were coordinating their efforts more usefully in recent years and became influential community in the United States, which led to the declaration of 28 May as a National Day of Azerbaijan in many states and cities of the United States and congratulations sent to Azerbaijani people.

Then Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggerâ€™s congratulatory message on the Azerbaijanâ€™s Republic Day was read out at the event. In his message, Governor Schwarzenegger specially underlined the American Azerbaijanisâ€™ contribution to the Golden State.

Monterey Vice Mayor Nancy Selfridge submitted the decision of the City Council to declare 28 May as an â€œAzerbaijani Dayâ€ to the local Azerbaijani community. Azerbaijan Republic established in 1918 was one of the first states given equal rights to its citizens not depending on their religious and social status, the Monterey City Council noted in its decision. The Council members highly appreciated working relations between Azerbaijan and Monterey International Research Center, the Defense Language Institute, as well as US Navy School. Monterey International relations Institute is working with Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy for organizing the English courses.

Azerbaijan Consul General in Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan restored its independence in 1991 used the historic experience of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The diplomat focused attention on the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States and expressed satisfaction with the increasing activities of Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations in USA. The Consul General presented to the Monterey City Council a Maiden Tower carpet.

Then classic music group led by young Azerbaijani violinist Sabina Rakcheeva gave a concert program performing the Western classic music and pieces of Azerbaijani folklore music â€œSari Gelinâ€ and â€œLachinâ€.
