Josef Chagall: â€œI appreciate the visit of Israeli President to Azerbaijan very positivelyâ€

Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. â€œI appreciate the visit of Israeli President Shimon Peres to Azerbaijan very positivelyâ€, president of Azerbaijan-Israel International Association (Aziz), former Knesset member Josef Chagall (Baku ancestry) told APA. He said it would be first visit of Israeli President to Azerbaijan. Chagall said Israel well understood the situation of Azerbaijan, knew its problems and univocally supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. â€œIsrael univocally supports Azerbaijan in this confrontation. We see that Azerbaijan understands the Middle East problems. Iran is a factor of instability not only in your region. We have no geographic borders with Iran and there are two thousand kilometers between us, but we feel the Iranâ€™s destructive and negative role in our region. I am sure that Iran negatively reacts to the visit of Israel president to Azerbaijan and there have been official reactions and versions. I have to notice that Azerbaijan pursues very subtle and balanced foreign policy and all serious players accepted the foreign policy course of Azerbaijanâ€. Chagall said Israel was waiting for the opening of Azerbaijani embassy for 15 years. â€œWe would like it, but this is political decision and everything depends on the regional situation. Azerbaijan is a border and both West and East focus their views on Azerbaijan, and it is very difficult to make decision to open the embassy in Israelâ€.
