"Children and young people are among those most affected by climate change. We are failing to pay close attention to this reality," Leyla Hasanova, Youth Climate Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, said during an event held in Baku within the framework of COP29 on the topic "Strengthening Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development in Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs): Challenges and Opportunities," APA reports.

She noted that it is especially crucial to provide a chance for a more resilient future for landlocked developing countries: "Today, in Baku, we are discussing the issues faced by young people from landlocked developing countries. By providing young people with the knowledge and platforms they need, we can inspire them to be part of the solution. Young individuals represent the strongest voices in this movement and can be important sources of innovative solutions."

She also pointed out that nearly half of the world’s children live in countries highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change: "These impacts have serious consequences for health, education, and security. We recognize the never-ending need for improvements, and we call on everyone to use this opportunity to explore possible ways to apply sustainable innovations in our communities. Supporting youth is an affordable and critical way to strengthen human development and cooperation. By combining their perspectives, we can discover innovative, workable, and sustainable solutions to build a strong future for all of us. The ultimate goal is truly within reach. If we remain in solidarity, we can empower the ambitions of young people and enable their actions to secure the green world we all deserve."
