“We want to elevate this process to a higher level as Türkiye, taking into account the successful outcomes achieved in Azerbaijan and the COP30 process held in Brazil,” Türkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and COP31 President-designate Murat Kurum told to journalists, APA reports.
“We believe that what the world needs most today is implementation and concrete action. We will carry out a multifaceted COP presidency process. We want to demonstrate to the world a presidency where everyone is heard, all segments of society are taken into account, and no one is left behind. Within this framework, we also met with the head of the International Energy Agency during the COP31 process, which will be carried out in friendship and partnership with Australia. Our main priority is for all countries of the world to implement energy policies that allow them to ensure their own energy security. Our action agenda will include processes involving youth participation and consideration of their views, the construction of climate-resilient cities, maximizing the use of renewable energy sources, and ensuring fair access to climate finance,” Murat Kurum said.
