The Energy Transition Investment Forum in Central Asia is being held by the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in order to accelerate the implementation of renewable energy in the region and promote green industrialization, APA reports.
The ministers and deputy ministers from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates are participating in the Forum organized within the framework of COP29.
The forum discusses ways to increase the use of green energy to meet the growing energy demand in Central Asian countries, ensure diversity of energy sources, support economic growth and achieve climate goals. In order to achieve these goals, the program "Accelerated Partnership for Renewable Energy in Central Asia" (APRECA) was established. The program aims to mobilize the potential of the Central Asian countries, expand investments within the framework of regional cooperation, strengthen interregional relations and increase socio-economic benefits.
The forum will last two days with discussions on investment and financing policies, financing needs and priorities, frameworks for climate finance and other financing instruments for the energy transition in Central Asia. Special sessions to be held include the Financing Dialogue on Energy Transitions, an Interactive Session on IRENA's Project Facilitation Tools for Central Asia and a Regional Workshop on Central Asia. Each session will provide attendees with extensive information on innovative financing solutions and best practices.
