"Donor countries have pledged to allocate 350 billion dollars for climate crisis efforts by 2030," Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative on Climate Issues, stated during an event held as part of “Baku Climate Action Week,” APA reports.
Babayev said that Azerbaijan is working to ensure donor countries fulfill their commitments and to increase the amount of funding to be provided.
He highlighted that last year Azerbaijan successfully hosted the COP29 conference, stressing that the event brought tangible benefits to the country.
“Before the event, there were doubts about whether Azerbaijan could host such a large and significant gathering. We proved that Azerbaijan can be trusted to organize major events. Nearly 70,000 delegates attended COP29. We have seen the gains from this event. Thanks to COP29, we have been able to develop our human resources, build international partnerships, earn a reputation for effective management, and encourage various countries to invest in our tourism sector and other areas,” Babayev noted.
The presidential representative emphasized that donor countries must meet their obligations and underscored the importance of continuing the legacy of COP29.
