“The forecasts indicate that the water level in the Caspian Sea will decrease further,” said Mukhtar Babayev, the Presidential Representative on Climate Issues and President of COP29, in his speech at a round table held within the framework of the “Baku Climate Action Week”, APA reports.

“The number of forecasting models related to the Caspian Sea exceeds 100. Unfortunately, about 10% of these models are related to the increase in water,” Mukhtar Babayev said.

“The drying up of the Caspian Sea will have a negative impact on fishing, oil production, logistics, port operations, and other sectors. People living in these areas will naturally lose their jobs and be forced to move to the city. So, the pressure on the city will increase. Moreover, the winds will spread a large amount of dust and soil from the drying areas to the surrounding areas. All this will lead to negative consequences,” the Presidential Representative on Climate Issues said.
