As part of COP29, the Baku Declaration was adopted at the Ministerial Roundtable on Global Climate Transparency in Baku, APA reports.
The decision was made unanimously.
Countries signing the document called on the Parties to the Paris Climate Agreement to submit their Climate Transparency Reports in due form by December 31, 2024.
The Declaration stated that, in accordance with Article 13 of the Paris Agreement, the signatory countries commit to submitting their Biennial Climate Transparency Reports by December 31, 2024.
It also calls on all Parties to the Paris Climate Agreement to submit their climate transparency reports by December 31, 2024;
Recognizes the challenges faced by some developing countries and Parties in preparing Climate Transparency Reports and establishing national reporting systems within governments;
Supports efforts by the COP29 Presidency and the UNFCCC Secretariat to assist developing countries in preparing climate transparency reports;
Endorses collective efforts aimed at institutional development and capacity building in countries. Additionally, it commits to expanding technical support for developing countries, sharing best practices for preparing and modernizing reports, and engaging in multilateral discussions with experts to achieve progress in this area;
Urges Parties and intergovernmental commissions to ensure the inclusion of information about expert individuals in the UNFCCC Roster of Experts;
Supports the determination of obligations for stakeholders and entities in this field, as well as the preparation of reviews by technical experts;
The parties signing the Baku Declaration on Global Climate Transparency also confirm that the document will serve as a platform for ensuring transparency through collaboration among countries preparing reports, mobilizing resources in this field, implementing cooperation-promoting activities, and exchanging experiences.
The parties declare their support for the efforts of the Baku Transparency Platform to strengthen mutual trust and enhance capacity among developing countries.

Within the framework of COP29, the Round Table of Ministers on Global Climate Transparency was held in Baku, APA reports.
The President of COP29, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev spoke about the importance of presenting the global climate transparency report.
UN Deputy Secretary General Inger Andersen said that it is especially important to strengthen cooperation at the government level with large corporations and businessmen who want to attract investment in the field of combating climate change. She also underlined that she shared the views expressed in the previous speeches.
Later, Certificates on Global Climate Transparency were presented to Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Japan, Andorra, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, Germany, Maldives, Republic of South Africa and Italy.
