Information published by Bloomberg claiming that Russia has amended its peace plan on Ukraine is fake, said Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
Zakharova stated Bloomberg does not have reliable sources close to the Kremlin and relies only on unreliable ones.
Bloomberg earlier reported, citing a source close to the Kremlin, that the peace plan agreed between Ukraine and the United States and announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lacks provisions important for Russia and fails to address many of Moscow’s concerns.
At the same time, the source said that Moscow views the plan as a starting point for future negotiations.
The source added that Russia considers the document “a fairly typical Ukrainian plan,” but will examine it “cool-headedly.”
According to the source, Russia is dissatisfied with the prospect of further eastward expansion of NATO and the absence of guarantees regarding Ukraine’s neutral status should it join the European Union. The plan also lacks clear guarantees on restrictions demanded by Russia on Ukraine’s post-war armed forces, as well as on the status of the Russian language.
In addition, Russia seeks the lifting of sanctions and clarification regarding hundreds of billions of dollars in Russian state assets frozen in the West.
