United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a House testimony on Tuesday that the dollar "continues to thrive" and that the share of global transactions in dollars increased in 2026. He explained that reserve assets have diminished, mostly in Russia and China, APA reports.
Bessent noted that the US has recently seen "two of the most successful Treasury auctions in 20 years, arguing that it proves global confidence in the US and stressing that the domestic bond market is "the best-performing in the world." He told lawmakers that a strong dollar is "not a price on a screen, it is a set of behaviors," and praised the Trump administration's policies as a means to strengthen the currency.
