The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on the Armenian authorities not to present their rapprochement with the European Union as “diversification,” APA reports.
The statement was made by Alexei Fadeyev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a briefing.
According to him, the Armenian authorities are currently trying to shift responsibility for the tensions between Yerevan and Moscow onto others, explaining all existing problems by Armenia’s desire to seek political and economic alternatives.
“Ensuring the diversified development of the state is the duty and priority of every country. However, concepts should not be substituted. If behind the beautiful word ‘diversification’ lies a turn away from Eurasian integration and a traditional ally in favor of the European Union, which openly pursues a hostile policy toward Russia, then the outcome is obvious,” Fadeyev said.
The diplomat also stated that the problems related to Armenia’s exports are not caused by restrictions imposed by Russia but by the quality of the products.
According to him, the current export difficulties are being unfairly portrayed by Yerevan as restrictions imposed by Moscow.
