Russia is aware of possible changes to the US peace plan, but Moscow has not received anything officially from Washington, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
"We are aware of possible changes to the US peace plan and its confirmed statements, but we have not received anything officially. No substantive discussions have been held on these issues. Moreover, we are getting information about this from the press," Peskov said.
He noted that the Russian side remains committed to the discussions held in Anchorage.
It should be noted that according to the plan, the content of which was leaked to the Western media, the US and other countries will be required to recognize Russian sovereignty over Crimea, Donbas and other territories to which Ukraine will be forced to make concessions. In return, Kyiv will receive American and European security guarantees. A demilitarized zone is expected to be created in the areas where Ukrainian troops will be withdrawn. According to Axios, citing an American official, the line of contact between the conflicting parties in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions will be frozen, and Russia will be forced to return some territories to Ukraine. The Ukrainian army will be significantly reduced and lose its long-range weapons. The deployment of foreign troops in the country will be prohibited, and Russian will become the official language. According to Bloomberg, the new US plan also includes the lifting of sanctions against Russia.
