Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has described French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about plans to contact Vladimir Putin as “playing to the audience,” APA reports.
Lavrov made the remarks while commenting on Macron’s plans to hold a phone conversation with Putin during a press conference following talks with Namibia’s Minister of International Relations, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi.
“When someone like Mr. Macron says, ‘I will talk, we will have to talk to Putin anyway, and in a few weeks I will propose something,’ this is not serious. This is playing to the audience — a form of microphone or megaphone diplomacy, which has never led to anything good,” the Russian foreign minister said.
