According to the Russian press, after Sergey Lavrov’s last phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Trump has postponed his meeting with Putin in Budapest. Local media report that the Russian foreign minister’s tough conversation with his American counterpart ended the recent softening observed in negotiations with Washington, and for this reason Lavrov has drawn the Kremlin’s ire. It is reported that he has not participated in any state events recently. Moreover, on November 11–12, during the talks held in the Kremlin with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Lavrov was not part of the Russian delegation. He was replaced by his deputy, Mikhail Galuzin.
