A two-month pretrial detention measure has been chosen for Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church’s Shirak Diocese, APA reports.
He is prohibited from communicating with anyone except his relatives.
Note that this is the second archbishop detained in the last two days. Earlier, a pretrial detention measure was chosen for Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan.

Investigative Committee has petitioned the court to remand Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, Primate of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, in pre-trial detention, lawyer Ara Zohrabyan has announced, APA reports citing Armenpress.
According to Zohrabyan, Archbishop Ajapahyan has been charged with making public calls via mass media and information technologies, allegedly aimed at usurping power and overthrowing the constitutional order.
“The court and the hearing date will be announced later,” Zohrabyan noted.
