The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, commented on Armenia’s refusal of Moscow’s humanitarian assistance for Armenians who voluntarily left Karabakh, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
Zakharova said during a briefing today that Armenia’s refusal of Russia’s aid is not understandable.
She noted that refusing assistance would be understandable only if there were no longer any need for such aid.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia emphasized that official Yerevan refused the assistance, citing Armenia’s legal norms that restrict donations and charitable aid during the pre-election period: “Moscow asked Armenia to clarify the issue, but Armenian officials found it difficult to provide an answer. All of this looks like an attempt to ‘cleanse’ Russia from the minds of Armenians.”
Maria Zakharova also recalled that since June 2025, the Russian Humanitarian Mission, the Evrazia Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization, and Rossotrudnichestvo have delivered nearly 140 tons of humanitarian aid to Armenians who voluntarily left the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
“However, Yerevan’s dissatisfaction manifested itself even then. The discontent went so far that through official channels the response was: ‘Thank you very much, we don’t need it,’” she said.
