Voting in the national referendum on the new Constitution of Kazakhstan officially ended at 08:00 pm. local time. Election commissions began counting ballots. Deputy Chairman of the Central Referendum Commission, Mukhtar Yerman, presented preliminary turnout figures for the day, APA reports citing Kazinform News Agency.
According to territorial commissions, 9,126,850 citizens across the country came to vote. Preliminary turnout for the entire day reached 73.24%.
Yerman noted that, under current legislation, the counting process must not exceed 12 hours from the start of tallying.

Voter turnout as of 18:00 local time has been announced in the referendum held in Kazakhstan on the draft of the new Constitution, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Astana reports, citing the Central Referendum Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
By 18:00, a total of 8,845,280 citizens had participated in the vote, with voter turnout reaching 70.98%.
The Central Referendum Commission noted that the next update on voter turnout will be announced after polling stations close, at 20:30 local time.

Voter turnout in Kazakhstan’s referendum on the new Constitution reached 64.43% as of 16:00, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Astana reports, citing the country’s Central Referendum Commission.
It was noted that as of 16:00, a total of 8,029,286 citizens included in the voter lists had participated in the vote.
It was also stated that referendum polling stations located in Washington, New York and Ottawa began operating at 16:00 Astana time.
The next official update on voter turnout is expected to be announced at 18:00.

Kazakhstan referendum turnout reaches 19.21% by 10:00
Voter turnout in Kazakhstan’s nationwide referendum on the adoption of a new Constitution reached 19.21% during the first three hours of voting, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Astana reports, citing the country’s Central Referendum Commission.
According to the commission, the preliminary turnout stood at 19.21% as of 10:00 local time in the vote on the draft of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution.
Speaking at a briefing, member of the Central Referendum Commission Lyazzat Suindik said that by 10:00, a total of 2,393,844 citizens included in the voter lists had received their ballots.
Overall, 12,461,796 citizens across Kazakhstan are eligible to take part in the referendum.
Regional data released by the commission shows that Karaganda region recorded the highest turnout by 10:00 with 26.64%. It was followed by Kyzylorda region with 24.02% and Aktobe region with 21.80%.
Turnout in other regions was reported as follows: Shymkent city – 21.36%, Turkistan region – 21.21%, Zhetysu region – 21.01%, Astana city – 20.68%, East Kazakhstan region – 20.64%, Ulytau region – 20.31%, Akmola region – 19.82%, Atyrau region – 19.44%, Kostanay region – 19.24%, West Kazakhstan region – 18.80%, North Kazakhstan region – 18.72%, Mangystau region – 18.53%, Zhambyl region – 18.49%, Almaty region – 18.10%, Abai region – 17.98%, and Pavlodar region – 16.36%.
The lowest turnout was recorded in Almaty city, where 9.54% of voters had cast their ballots by 10:00.
The Central Referendum Commission said the next update on voter turnout will be released at 12:00.
Kazakhstan began nationwide voting on the draft of a new Constitution on March 15.
Earlier, on February 11, President Kassym Jomart Tokayev signed a decree scheduling the referendum for March 15.
The constitutional reform process was launched following Tokayev’s proposal to establish a unicameral parliament in Kazakhstan. The president first presented the initiative during his annual address to the nation on September 8, 2025.
