US ready to provide financial assistance to Ukraine

Washington â€“ APA. â€œIf Ukraine requests financial assistance from the US, Obama administration may take a look at this request,â€ Acting Spokesman for the U.S. Department of State Robert Wood said, APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS. Robert Wood said he could not give any promises, because he did not know whether Ukraine had requested or not.
â€œI know that Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has reached out to a number of countries on this issue,â€ he said.
Asked how the Unites States, which faced financial crisis, would provide billions of assistance to Ukraine, Robert Wood said:
â€œUkraine is an important partner for the United States. We’d have to take a look at a request on financial aid, should one come in.â€

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko asked $5 billion loan from Russia. President Viktor Yushchenko objected to it.
