Dushanbe – APA. Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry answered the statement made by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Uzbekistan with a note. APA reports Dushanbe is concerned over Russian President’s statements that all thermal power plants should be constructed in the Central Asia taking into consideration the interests of all countries. Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia would not participate in the projects not agreed by all sides.
The plan of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to build hydropower plant in their boundary waters caused conflict among the countries of Central Asia. The construction of this power plant can cause water shortage and Uzbekistan can have serious problems in irrigating sowing areas. Tajikistan regarded Medvedev’s statement “the interests of all sides should be taken into consideration” as protection of Uzbekistan.
