Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. Russia’s military says one of its fighter jets has crashed, but its crew of two ejected safely, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

The Defense Ministry said a MiG-31 fighter jet went down Friday during a regular training mission. It crashed near the city of Perm in the Ural Mountains about 1,150 kilometers (some 700 miles) east of Moscow and didn’t cause any damage on the ground. The ministry said the air force has grounded its MiG-31 fleet pending a probe into the crash. Military investigators said the plane went into a tailspin before pilots ejected.

The twin-engined MiG-31 entered service with the Soviet air force in 1980, and has remained on duty as Russia’s main long-range interceptor fighter.
