He suffered jaw and leg fractures and brain concussion, said Ilya Azar, Kashin’s friend and colleague from Russkiy Reportyor. The journalist has been admitted to the intensive care unit of Moscow’s hospital No 36. He was operated on and is undergoing anaphotherapy (artificial respiration).
Saturday’s attack on Oleg Kashin was probably linked to his work, Kommersant editor-in-chief Mikhail Mikhailin said. The journalist was investigating activity of informal and youth organizations and written about the road construction through the Khimkinsk forest near Moscow. Mikhailin said unknown people attacked Kashin didn’t take his money, documents and iPhone. “It proves that their attack on the journalist was linked to his professional activity”, said Mikhailin.
