Baku-APA. Russian security forces have killed four suspected militants in two separate police raids, as violence continues in the North Caucasus, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Two police officers reportedly received non-critical injuries in an exchange of gun fire with militants at a house in the village of Komsomolskoye in Dagestan on Saturday.

During the shootout, two militants were also killed. One was shot trying to escape whereas the other was killed in the shootout with police, a spokesman for Dagestan police, Vyacheslav Gasanov, told AP.

In another incident in Ingushetia, police killed two militants during a car chase in an exchange of gunfire, AFP stated.

Police spokeswoman Madina Khadziyeva said that the security forces have found two machine guns and ammunition inside the car, adding that the men had been wanted on terrorism charges.

Violence has increased to almost a daily basis in Northern Caucasus following two separatist wars in Chechnya in the 1990s.

Widespread unemployment, especially among young adults, is a major problem that has been attributed to an increased recruitment of people by separatist militants, AFP said.
