Azerbaijani President attends informal meeting of CIS Heads Of State

Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovich welcomed the Azerbaijani President in front of the Livadia Palace.

Opening the meeting, the Ukrainian President called the participants to discuss measures to step up economic cooperation among the CIS member countries, as well as implementation of joint projects in transport and tourism. The participants decided to continue working on a new agreement on a free trade zone and include the issue in the agenda of the next gathering of the CIS Heads of State.

The CIS leaders also decided to boost cooperation in the humanitarian area.

On behalf of the meeting participants, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Viktor Yanukovich on his jubilee and wished him successes.

At the end of the meeting the Heads of State posed for photographs.

Later the same day the CIS Heads of State had an informal dinner.

President Ilham Aliyev attended the event.
