Bishkek - APA. The Kyrgyz Interior Ministry on Friday announced it has detained the nephew of ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, suspected of organising riots in the south of the country earlier this month, APA reports.
Sanjar Bakiyev is suspected of organizing the unrest in the country’s south earlier in the month.
"During special operations today, Sanjar Bakiyev was detained, one of the main organizers of the unrest in the country’s south," the agency quoted Kyrgyz Interior Minister Bolot Sher as saying.
Sher said the operations were "successful and without any loss of life despite Sanjar Bakiyev putting up heavy resistance."
