But the Kyrgyz government does not rule out that the real death toll may be much more.
“2224 were injured. 1035 of them were hospitalized, 1198 received out-patient treatment,†the ministry said.
Ethnic clashes occurred between the Kyrgyz and Uzbeks in the south of Kyrgyzstan on June 11. The clashes lasted for a week and resulted in murders and plunders. Kyrgyz interim government declared state of emergency in some districts of Osh and Jalalabad provinces.
According to unofficial reports, the death toll may have reached 2000.
