Roza Otunbayeva meets with local leaders in Osh

Bishkek - APA. Kyrgyzstan’s interim leader flew to the country’s south on Friday to help ease tensions in the conflict-torn region after the worst ethnic violence in the Central Asian state in two decades, APA reports citing Reuters. The government has struggled to restore order in the south following clashes between Uzbeks and Kyrgyz that killed about 200 people last week and triggered a massive wave of refugees.Acting president Roza Otunbayeva landed in the southern city of Osh, its streets lined with charred buildings, in a military helicopter to meet local leaders in a gesture of reconciliation.
