Baku-APA. At least seven people have been killed and three more wounded after clashes erupted between troops and militants in the North Caucasus region of Russia, APA reports quoting presstv.ir website.

Three Russian soldiers died after they were targeted in their cars in the Russian restive Republic of Chechnya, the Russian Interfax news agency quoted the Russian Interior Ministry as saying on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, three civilians got injuries in two separate ambushes in the same region.

Also in the neighboring Dagestan, two police officers and two militants were killed in several firefights between the two sides.

In the troubled Republic of Ingushetia, militants managed to blast a gas pipeline in an attack that left no injuries.

Militants across the North Caucasus have been fighting Russian forces for years in hopes of setting up an independent state.
