Emomali Rahmon: â€œGlobal financial crisis and new global challenges require joining of efforts of mankindâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova - APA. President Emomali Rahmon addressed the 37th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States, APA reports.
Addressing the meeting the president noted that the global financial and economic crisis and new global challenges require joining of efforts of mankind and the Organization of the Islamic Conference could play an important role in this direction, according to presidential press service. He also pointed out increasing role of the Organization in affairs of international community.
President Rahmon noted that the establishment of the Islamic Support Fund with the authorized capital of 10 billion U.S dollars and a special institution for providing humanitarian aid in case of emergency was a striking example of practical steps taken by OIC.Rahmon said that OIC could play an important role in resolving problems of Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan.He also noted that the majority of Muslim developing countries have been seriously affected by the crisis and the Islamic Development Bank and the mentioned Fund could help tackle problems facing those countries.The Tajik head of state added that providing worthy life to each of Muslims and raising prestige of Islam in the world should become the foundation of work of the Organization, the press service said.
