Police threw stones on Kyrgyz Interior Minister who came to Jalalabad to arrest Bakiyev’s brother

APA reports that police and 70-man special unit besieged the house of the Bakiyevs’ in Teyit village.

Deputy Interior Minister of the interim government of Kyrgyzstan Azimbek Bekhnazarov told journalists that acting Interior Minister Bolotbek Sherniyazov leads the special operation for detaining former president’s brother. He said Janibek Bakiyev refuses to surrender.
“The police do not attack as there are women and children in the house,” he said.

One of the supporters of Bakiyev, who was in the house, told RIA Novosti that there were four unarmed persons in the house, Janibek Bakiyev was not with them. In the afternoon it became clear that Janibek Bakiyev was not at home and the operation was postponed. One of Bakiyev’s relatives was arrested.

Janibek Bakiyev was head of Kyrgyzstan’s State Security Service. The new government accuses him of ordering to shoot at the rebels attacking the government house on April 7. Janibek Bakiyev faces charges of mass killing.

The local policemen started rally in the center of Jalalabad when the operation was going on. APA reports quoting fergana.ru that the policemen protest against Bolotbek Sherniyazov’s leadership. They also said their colleagues who were killed in the happenings on April 6-7 were not commemorated on the highest level.

After the picketers’ demand Bolotbek Sherniyazov met with them. The talks between the acting minister and picketers were calm at first, but suddenly several persons attacked on him. Sherniyazov got into his car with the help of his bodyguards, stones and bottles were thrown on his cortege.
