Three members of Georgian Public Television Trustee Council resign under the pressure of opposition – PHOTOSESSION
Opposition leaders Bejan Kunava, Zviad Dzidziguri, Levan Gachechiladze, Konstantin Gamsakhurdia, Eka Beselia, Nino Burjanadze, Goga Khaindrava and others addressed the protest action participants in the rain and called on them to continue the struggle. Dzidziguri said Mikhail Saakashvili was not the president of people, but National Movement Party. “The people are staying in the street and demanding his resignation, but he is speaking about the potato problemâ€. Meanwhile embers of the several primary organizations of the National Movement Party joined the protesters. Secretary General of the ruling party Zurab Melikishvili told journalists that he was not surprised with that. “I met those people a month ago and I knew that they would take such actionâ€. Beselia called on other members of the ruling party to join the protest actions. “We are ready to forgive themâ€. Gamsakhurdia called Saakashvili the “headless horsemanâ€. Burjanadze made a historic parallel and said it was rainy during the “velvet revolution†too. Khaindrava called the protesters to continue picketing of Public Television. Three members of the Public Television Trustee Council – Professor of the Institute of Social Sciences Marina Vekua, historian Giya Anchabadze and singer Irma Sokhadze resigned under the pressure of opposition.
