Georgian opposition extends protest actions in Tbilisi

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzadeh –APA. Leaders of Georgian opposition Irakly Alasania, Irakly Batiashvili, Zurab Abashidze, Goga Khaindrava, Nino Burjanadze, Badri Bisadze, Koka Guntsadze and others issued a statement on the incident outside the parliament. The opposition leaders said street cleaners of Tbilisi municipality and nearly 50 truncheon-armed persons in civic forms broke their equipments installed outside the parliament and used force against the protesters, APA Georgian bureau reports. The Interior Ministry of Georgia said they had no relation to those people. The ministry said the government would not interfere in the protest actions. Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava also spoke about the incident. He said he sent street cleaners to clean up the square because opposition asked him about that.

The opposition parties continued protest actions in Tbilisi Sunday evening. They announced their action plan. Leader of Movement for United Georgia Eka Beselia said the protests would cover all city beginning from 15.00 on April 13 and would be continued until the President Mikhail Saakashvili’s resignation.
