Baku - APA-Economics. The Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at 16.320.88, down a hefty 223.03 points (1.35 per cent), Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The broad-based S&P 500 sank 30.75 (1.61 per cent) to 1,875.38, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index slumped 62.58 (1.46 per cent) to 4,213.66.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index closed up 0.41 per cent to 6,366.23 points.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.27 per cent to finish at 8,812.43 points, and the CAC 40 in Paris rose 0.12 per cent to 4,078.70 points.
