On April 16, major indices in the U.S. stock markets ended the trading session with gains, APA-Economics reports.
The Dow Jones rose by 0.24% or 115 points to 48,578.72 points, the S&P 500 increased by 0.26% or 18.33 points to 7,041.28 points, and the Nasdaq climbed by 0.36% or 86.68 points to 24,102.70 points.
Mixed dynamics were observed in European markets. The FTSE 100 rose by 0.29% (30.41 points) to 10,589.99 points, and the DAX increased by 0.36% (87.77 points) to 24,154.47 points. At the same time, the Euro Stoxx 50 declined by 0.12% (7.06 points) to 5,933.28 points, and the CAC 40 fell by 0.14% (11.87 points) to 8,262.70 points.
In Asian markets, declines prevailed. The Nikkei 225 dropped by 0.97% or 576.42 points to 58,941.92 points, the Hang Seng decreased by 1.32% or 347.28 points to 26,046.98 points, and the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.30% or 14.20 points to 4,722.41 points.
According to analysts, the rise in U.S. markets is linked to continued interest in the technology sector, while the decline in Asian markets is explained by investors’ cautious stance and profit-taking.
