First Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament: “The international law has become a method of some states’ power”

In today’s sitting, the parliamentarians expressed their position on the states that voted for and against the UN resolution on the situation in the occupied Azerbaijan’s territories. MP Ali Masimli said the Parliament should take a stance on the UN resolution, demonstrate positive reaction to those voted for the resolution and negative reaction to those, who voted against. MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev also noted the necessity of commenting on the issue.
“Azerbaijan has held negotiations with Armenia up to now. These negotiations were held with the participation of OSCE Minsk Group and other organizations. It was necessary to strengthen Azerbaijan’s army, the army has already been strengthened. The Parliament should hold discussions on Nagorno Karabakh”, he said.
Mentioning that Azerbaijani territories are under occupation, the parliamentarian said the Parliament should take a stance on the issue. To him, Heydar Aliyev conducted such discussions in 1998.
“I offer to invited President to the Parliament and hold such discussions. The Parliament should protest to those, who voted against the resolution”, he said.
MP Ganira Pashayeva said the Parliament should appeal to the Minsk Group member states.
Parliamentarian Siyavush Novruzov said a letter of gratitude should be sent to Pakistan and Uzbekistan for supporting Azerbaijan’s position.
First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov agreed to the opinions.
“This is right position. The international law has become a method of some states’ power”, he said.
