Baku – APA. A Saudia Airlines plane "under threat" was placed in total isolation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday, the Manila International Airport Authority said, GMA News Online reported.
The Saudia flight SVA 872 from Jeddah touched down at the NAIA at around 3 p.m.
"Twenty miles before landing, MIAA ESD received advise from Manila Control Tower that Saudia Airlines Flight SV872 is under threat," a statement from the MIAA said.
The statement said the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group is now on-site while the aircraft is isolated.
Saudia Airline executives are also on-site.
Metropolitan Manila's police chief headed to the airport, stating there was a “situation” there, according to local radio. The Philippine civil aviation chief also confirmed the plane was isolated.
Some local reports on Twitter initially suggested the plane was been hijacked.
