Baku-APA. A domestic passenger plane with over 150 passengers onboard Wednesday afternoon caught fire when landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi due to a gear problem, causing minor injuries of some passengers, said local media, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The IndiGo air company flight from Mumbai to Delhi caught fire at Delhi's T1 terminal while landing and the injured passengers have been rushed to nearby hospitals, said the Times Now TV channel.

The incident was caused by a problem in the plane's landing gear that caused thick smoke to emanate after touching down at the airport, said Press Trust of India.

Aviation incident in India is rare. The latest major incident took place in 2010 when a passenger plane from the Gulf crashed at an airport in the western state of Karnataka, killing over 200.
