Baku-APALebanese President Michel Suleiman on Monday warned of the negative effects of sedition on his country's stability and civil peace, APA reports.

Suleiman demanded security and judiciary officials arrest those suspected to be responsible for the clash that erupted Sunday in the southern port city of Sidon and take the necessary measures to control the situation in the area, stressing the importance to avert sedition.

He also noted the incident occurred "at a time when Lebanese foes have agreed to abide by the Baabda Declaration."

The Baabda Declaration was reached during the national dialogue held June, the first one in 19 years, which urged protecting Lebanon from the regional and international disputes.

On Sunday, an armed clash erupted between supporters of Shiite Hezbollah and Sunni Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Assir in the Taamir neighborhood of Sidon, killing three people and injuring seven others.
