Baku-APA. Two explosions followed by gun fires shocked the diplomat enclave of Wazir Akbar Khan area in Kabul city Thursday night, police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
He also added that gun battle continues. The attack occurred at 07:30 p.m. local time.
Meanwhile, an unofficial source said that the attackers also fired towards the residence of first vice president Abdul Rashid Dustam.
The area of blast is also close to the embassy of Tajikistan.
Taliban militants fighting the government have claimed responsibility, saying the insurgents targeted a guest house frequented by foreigners.
A security official Qadam Shah said that target was International Relief Development, a non-governmental organization (NGO) supporting Afghanistan in several fields including agriculture and capacity building.
Afghan security forces have rushed to the area and tried to bring the situation under control.
Deputy to Interior Ministry, Mohammad Ayub Salangi, in talks with media said that two suicide bombers had been killed, one foreigner was injured and operations are going on to control the situation.
