DPRK denounces U.S. over Ferguson shooting

Baku-APA. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday lashed out at the United States over the Ferguson incident, saying the self-styled "international human rights judge" is actually a "human rights abuser," APA reports quoting Xinhua

"The protests in Ferguson City and other parts of the United States are an eruption of the pent-up discontent and resistance of the people against racial discrimination and inequality deeply rooted in the American society," a DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

On Aug. 9, 18-year-old African-American Michael Brown was shot dead by a white police officer in Ferguson, a St. Louis suburb in the U.S. state of Missouri, which prompted nationwide protests and questioning of U.S. racial divide. In Ferguson, protests once escalated into days of rioting.

Only 10 days after the Ferguson shooting, another young black man was shot and killed after he brandished a knife at police officers in northern St. Louis.

The DPRK, a perennial target of U.S. criticism over human rights abuses, said the recent cases have brought to light the reality of human rights in the United States, which should be put to the dock of the court of human rights.

Colored people suffer humiliation and their human rights are wantonly violated, the statement said, adding that the United States should mind its own business rather than interfere in domestic affairs of other countries.
