Police have dispatched investigators to the presidential office in Yongsan in connection with the martial law situation to secure documents voluntarily submitted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), APA reports citing CHOSUNBIZ.
The Police National Investigation Headquarters' special task force on martial law announced that around 2 p.m. on the 12th, investigators would be sent to the presidential office to receive documents voluntarily submitted by the JCS. The JCS building is located within the presidential office grounds. The special task force attempted a search and seizure of the presidential office the previous day, but the Presidential Security Service refused entry, citing public duty and military secrets.
The special task force announced that the target of the voluntary submission of documents was the JCS, not the presidential office. This is part of executing a search and seizure warrant issued by the court, and instead of formally entering the office to seize items, it was decided to secure them through voluntary submission with the JCS cooperation. For military confidential facilities, consent is required for entry.
