Baku-APA. Visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said Saturday that the international organization is preparing for a further influx of Syrian displaced into Lebanon, APA reports quoting the National News Agency.

The NNA said that Guterres prompted Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati during a press conference at the Grand Serail to accord a higher level of support for the refugees arguing that all host nations of Turkey and Jordan must do the same.

The prime minister received Guterres in the presence of the European Union High Commissioner for International Humanitarian Relief Kristalina Georgieva, Social Affairs Minister Wael Bou- Faour and Special UN Delegate to Lebanon Ninette Kelly.

Gutteres and Georgieva commended Mikati and the government for their supportive endeavors during their joint press conference and disclosed up to 526 million euros being already earmarked for the relief effort.

The UN official said that the "international community has in 2013 to increase its support to the Syrian refugees as well as the Syrians in endeavor in their own country."

He warned that while the expectations were to have a total of 500,000 Syrian refugees to flee their war-torn country by the end of 2012, the current figure has in fact reached 700,000 refugees.
