Two policemen killd in Iraq's violence

Baku-APA.Two policemen were killed and six people wounded in gunfire and bomb attacks in central Iraq on Monday, the police said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Gunmen in their car opened fire on a police checkpoint in central Samarra city, some 120 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, killing two policemen, a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, a sticky bomb attached to a KIA minibus carrying passengers detonated in Baghdad's northeastern district of al- Shaab, wounding four people, an Interior Ministry source anonymously told Xinhua.

In a separate incident, another sticky bomb attached to a civilian car went off in the same district during the day, wounding two people, the source said.

Violence in Iraq has decreased from its climax in 2006 and 2007, when sectarian conflicts pushed the country to the brink of a civil war, but tensions and sporadic shootings and bombings are still common across the country.
