Baku – APA. Two people were killed and 23 others wounded on Wednesday when a suicide bomber crashed his explosives-packed car into a barrier outside a police station in troubled northwest Pakistan, APA reorts quoting HindustanTimes. Several houses and part of the police station collapsed due to the impact of the blast. Among the injured, there were two children and five policemen. A bomb disposal squad official said more than 500 kilograms (half a ton) of explosives were used in the attack.
The attack came in early in the morning in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which is rife with Taliban and al-Qaida-led militancy.
The explosion occurred on the eve of general elections that will be held in Pakistan on May 11, 2013, marking the first time that a democratically elected civilian government will finish a full term and hand over power to another such government in Pakistan.
