Baku – APA. A powerful earthquake hit the Islamic Republic of Iran, APA reports.
A Magnitude-8.0 earthquake struck Iran on Tuesday and tremors were felt across in eastern Saudi Arabia and other parts of the Gulf region as well as in Pakistan and India.
The earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted Iran-Pakistan border region at 1044 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. But Iran announced that the earthquake was measured 7.5 on the Richter scale.
Though the Iranian State TV reported that at least 40 people died, officials, who don’t want to announce their names, said that hundreds of people died.
There are also causalities in Pakistan, it is reported that 1200 houses were damaged there.
