On first day of official candidate registration 75 persons applied to participate in Iran’s presidential elections  - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

5 influential persons are among those who submitted their candidatures. They are president of Iran’s Center for Strategic Research (CSR) Hassan Rouhani, Secretary General of the Democracy Party (or Mardom Salary), former MP Mostafa Kavakebian, former minister of health Kamran Bagheri Lankarani, former minister of housing and urban development Mohammad Saeedikia and former vice-president Sadeq Vaez Zadeh.

 

The official registration of candidatures for the 11th Iranian presidential elections started on May 7. The process will last by May 11. On May 12-16, Iran's Guardian Council will consider the candidates’ authorities and pass decisions whether they are eligible for participating in the elections or not. Following this, for some reason, if any candidate is not eligible for the elections, he/she can file an appeal against the Council’s decision on May 16-23. The Interior Ministry of Iran will publicize the names of presidential candidates on May 23-24. Pre-election campaign will be held from May 24 till June 12. The Interior Ministry announced that 67,000 polling stations will be opened in Iran.
