China Registers Over 180 Cases of Illicit Press in 2012

RIA Novosti - Various Chinese departments dealing with illicit press publications handled in 2012 a total of 184 cases involving illegal magazines and newspapers, Xinhua news agency reported.

 

The agency said citing the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications that some five million copies of illegal newspapers and magazines were confiscated this year.

 

The office also reported a number of cases involving fake journalists and illegally established news reporting offices.

 

In one of such cases, three people were sentenced to prisons as they falsely claimed to be journalists and were fabricating news reports to blackmail owners of coal mines in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
