Baku-APA. An improvised explosive device detonated in a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon on Thursday, leaving at least five people injured, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The explosion took place at al-Manshieh neighborhood of Ain el- Hilweh camp near Sidon city, a Palestinian security source told Xinhua.
The injured, including two children and a woman, were sent to hospitals in Sidon and health centers of the camp for treatment, the source said.
A follow-up committee has started to investigate the incident, head of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade General Mounir Al Maqdah told state-run National News Agency.
Ain el-Hilweh camp, the largest Palestinian camp in Lebanon, shelters about 50,000 refugees and is known to harbor extremists and fugitives. According to long-standing agreements, the Lebanese army does not enter the country's 12 Palestinian refugee camps, but leaves the security responsibility to the Palestinians themselves.
