Baku-APA. Five members of the Iraqi security forces have been killed and eight others injured in a bomb attack in the northern province of Nineveh, APA reports quoting Press TV.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the explosion ripped through a restaurant in the center of the city of Mosul, situated about 400 kilometers (250 miles) northwest of Baghdad, on Tuesday, the Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.
Five policemen were killed and eight others wounded in the attack.
Violence has increased in Iraq since December 2011, when an arrest warrant was issued for fugitive Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, who has been charged with running a death squad targeting Iraqi officials and Shia Muslims.
In response, the government has stepped up efforts to boost security across the country.
